Founding Keeper
Margaret Cowan is the Founding Keeper of I Am My Sister's Keeper (IAMSK), which originated in 2018. She is the single mother of three amazing young ladies, Cayden Danae (22), Camryn Dechele (20), and Camaya Denyce (18). Margaret completed her Associate's Degree at Southwest Tennessee Community College in 2020 and her Bachelor's in Sociology with a minor in Nonprofit Management at the University of Memphis in 2022. Margaret recognizes the importance of community in the life of a single mom. Her mission is to create a village in which single moms live and support each other. It is her desire to use her God-given gifts and abilities, along with her lifelong lessons, to own a neighborhood full of homes occupied by single moms. In order to obtain a paid position and prepare for a successful future for IAMSK, Margaret has completed a variety of training events and classes. She is most proud of her completion of the Executive Director Bootcamp led by Momentum Nonprofit Partners, "Before You Ask" by the Assisi Foundation, and an intensive six-week Fundraising Continuing Education course provided by her alma mater. Margaret enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She understands people, never meets a stranger, and is always willing to lend a helping hand.

SECRETARYBrenda Cowan has been a part of IAMSK since its inception and currently holds the secretary position. As a product of a single-parent home, she experienced and understands the possible deficiencies in being raised without the benefit of both parents. Brenda desires to be of assistance to moms who are raising children without the presence of the paternal parent. Brenda is a retired school administrator who earned a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration from Roosevelt University. Since her retirement, she has had the privilege of home schooling three of her granddaughters.

TREASURERWendolyn Byrd is the Treasurer in Training for IAMSK. She graduated from Christian Brothers University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Wendolyn currently works for a Memphis-based nonprofit organization that helps individuals with disabilities as the Human Resources Coordinator. In her leisure, she enjoys volunteering her time to help others, spending time with family and friends, and traveling. Wendolyn is constantly striving to improve professionally and aims to join the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM).

MEDIA COORDINATORCamryn Carter serves as the Social Media Coordinator for IAMSK and is currently a Freshman at Southwest TN Community College here in Memphis, TN. As a Graphic Arts Major with a Concentration in Interactive Multimedia Development, this role is directly aligned with her career goal! Camryn enjoys creating graphics and designing layouts for media projects. Some of her hobbies include reading, watching YouTube, designing on her iPad, creating content, editing videos and hanging out with friends!

BOARD MEMBERDeirdra Royston graduated from the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and is a Human Resource Advisor with FedEx Services. She joined the IAMSK team in February 2020 assisting with Strategic Planning and Development. Deirdra brings over 10 years of volunteer board and leadership experience from organizations such as Inner-City Ministries, GirlzLife, and Women in Leadership - a FedEx Services' Business Resource Team. Deirdra has always possessed a passion for volunteering with organizations whose missions serve women and youth.

BOARD MEMBERRoslyn Postlewaite, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She is the creator of the podcast Therapy as a Christian which is a podcast that focuses on God and mental health by merging the two together to help christians see that counseling and overcoming trauma is close to the heart of God. She is the CEO of Compassion Starts Here Professional Counseling where counsels adults who struggle transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, and other mental health struggles. She’s been working in the mental space for 10+ years. She loves to educate professionals and entrepreneurs on mental health and how they can create wellness for themselves. She is also the CEO of Postlewaite Solutions, LLC where she does consulting, education, and workshops on mental health for professionals. She is a wife to her amazing husband and mother of two young kids.

Social Media MAnagerLilly Drew serves as the social media manager for IAMSK. She is a graduate of Oakwood University, with a bachelor's degree in Biology. Lilly also has a master's degree in Clinical Nurse Leadership from University of Virginia. She is a wife, mother, and a psychiatric registered nurse. In the past year, she has been afforded the opportunity to work with several six and seven figure-brands with their social media marketing. Lilly enjoys traveling, spending quality time with her family, and shopping.

Big sisterLamaria Williams is 42 years old and one of the first member's of I Am My Sister's Keeper. She has been a member of this village since it began in 2019. She is a single mother of Thorian (23) , Alvin Jr. (21) and Allaya (20). Her journey started in 2016 when the founder, Margaret Cowan, learned she didn't have a high school diploma so she made calls and set up an appointment for her to obtain one. In 2017 she graduated from Hope Works and received her GED. In 2018 she pursued a trade in Pharmacy Technician at Southwest Tennessee Community and graduated 2019. She is now a hotel manager at Hotel Indigo Downtown Memphis. Lamaria say's "This group has been so beneficial to who I am today. There are zoom learning sessions on Friday nights, monthly outing with the moms and zoom check-ins on Wednesday nights. I'm honored to be a part of something that equips you to succeed".

big sisterTanya Elliott is a 1996 graduate of Grambling State University with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems and a 2017 Graduate of Western Governors University with an MBA in Healthcare Management. She works as a Training Coordinator for one of the hospitals here in Memphis. Tanya is a single mother of two wonderful young ladies and a dog. She has been a member of IAMSK since its inception and enjoys the time she spends with her sister circle. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family. Her favorite quote is “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not ot be reduced by them. Maya Angelou”
