Hey, y'all!
We will be unavailable from March 17 through March 23, 2023. Our Founding Keeper is taking a much needed mental health break in Georgia. Because she usually monitors this email address, it will likely not be monitored during this time. However, all messages will receive the necessary attention when she returns. If you would like to schedule an appointment with her when she returns, you may do so here: https://calendly.com/iamskmemphis/30min. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. We look forward to Keeping you soon!

The blog may be a little heavy this week, but it is what it is.
After I wrote to you all last week, I received an early morning phone call on Thursday (4am to be exact) that a friend I've had for nearly 30 years had passed away in her home. Kendra was only 41 years old, y'all. Of course, this sent me reeling because she was my friend and I love her, but also because she was so incredibly young. I am certain she had things she planned to do, places she planned to go, and conversations she planned to have. She will not have that chance. This put so many things in perspective for me and I'd like to share them with you. We always think we have time. Time to reconnect, time to apologize, time to go back to school, time to get in shape, time to get a therapist, time to be a better parent, etc. But the reality is, we don't. Life is not promised to any of us. I don't say this to make you sad or to dampen your day. I say this so that you can decide, today, to stop putting off what you think can wait until tomorrow, next week, or next month. Seize the day! All of the days. Love on your friends (and your enemies), make amends where need be (whether you think it was your fault or not), sign up for school (even if it's one class at a time), go walking today (don't think about tomorrow), schedule one therapy session (you won't know if you like it if you don't try it), and spend some uninterrupted time with your babies today (those phone notifications can wait). The passing of my friend also reaffirmed my belief in community. Kendra was a part of my village for a very long time. Having a village growing up helped me to understand the role of community in one’s life. The village we have created through I Am My Sister's Keeper is a similar village. People need people. All of us do, no matter what we’ve told ourselves. I am asking you to support I Am My Sister’s Keeper 4th Annual Fundraising Bruch w/ a TWIST so that we can continue to provide this village for those who need it. Please buy a ticket, whether you choose to attend or not, to help us continue to be the people that people need. As always, I thank you for reading these emails. I hope this one, in particular, reminds each of you to choose to seize all of your days. Signed, YOUR Founding Keeper Happy Wednesday, Keepers!
Hellllllloooooooo Spring! 😄💐 I know, I know Spring is not until the 20th but I am letting her know that she is welcome and needed. It is my sincere hope that this blog finds each of you doing well. I have just two updates, one announcement, and one reminder (w/aTWIST). 😉 Updates: 1. GiveCamp Memphis was a HUGE success! It was long and tiring and sometimes stressful, but it was absolutely worth it. Myself and our media coordinator (my middle baby), Camryn, learned a lot, met some really dope folks, and made some needed community connections! 2. Because of all we learned at GiveCamp, our website will be down for a few days. A week at the most. BUT when we come back, just know that it'll be better than ever! Announcement: 1. Tonight at 4 pm our Brunch DJ and I will be going LIVE on my Facebook page to talk about our 4th Annual Fundraising Brunch w/a TWIST! DJ Space Age has DJed (I had to look this spelling up-judge me if you want) for us several times in the past and she keeps coming back so we must be doing something right. I'm sure it isn't just for the money either, but we will find out for sure tonight. 🤗 Last week, we went live with the caterer. You can check it out here. Reminder: 1. BUY A TICKET TO OUR 4TH ANNUAL FUNDRAISING BRUNCH! Please. 😇 Not only will this event be a great time for all who attend, but the funds raised also help the moms in our village. We provide our moms with access to a pantry, funds for moving expenses, a savings match program, and emergency funds when necessary/available. Any funds we raise from this event and any of our others are used for the programs I mentioned. IF YOU HAVE READ ALL THE WAY DOWN HERE, YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A DISCOUNT ON YOUR BRUNCH TICKET!!! 🎉 Use the code TIX4MOM for $10 off. Thank you for taking the time to read this blog. Don't forget! Y'all can respond to these emails. Please feel free to share any thoughts or questions you may have. Signed, YOUR Founding Keeper Email: iammysissyskeeper@gmail.com Business Phone: 901-505-1010 |
