Building a tribe
We are a newer grassroots organization. We incorporated in 2019, and then the pandemic hit. Despite the obstacles and as we continue to build support, we have helped single moms in vital ways. We currently serve 16 single moms in our village and we're not stopping there; our tribe wants to grow by an additional 50% by 2025. We're looking for more sisters to join and help through our Mommy Move, Savings Match, scheduled 1:1 check-ins and monthly accountability sessions. IAMSK not only aims to support single moms, but to provide them with financial literacy and a safe space to network with like minds.
To date, we helped change the lives of four families by assisting them to move into safe and affordable housing. Two of our moms enrolled in college, and one mom purchased a new vehicle, which is a signficant relief for Memphis locals as it is a car-centric city without a solid public transportation system. We also have a number of moms who have enrolled in or are seeking mental health treatment or support. We've brought ease to single moms' lives daily through our learning sessions, childcare, pantry, and accountability sessions. Moreover, we've contributed $10,000 in savings and helped to move moms toward economic security.
What we're doing has brought positive changes! We aim to serve more single moms through our current programs, and ensuring the sustainability and enhancement of our current services. We want to see more single moms:
4th Annual Fundraising Brunch
I want to ask you to lend a hand in our work by purchasing a ticket to our 4th Annual Fundraising Brunch with a TWIST on March 12! Purchasing a ticket for this Brunch enables IAMSK to continue fighting the good fight for single moms in Shelby County. Rather than a regular, sit-down affair, we will have a mixer-style, networking event. I know y'all will love it! Almost all of us know a single mom, someone who was raised by a single mom, or someone whose life was changed by a single mom. Join hands with IAMSK to change the lives of single moms today!
